Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my new blog! This is just an introductory post so I’ll keep it short and sweet.
In this blog, I will be writing on technology topics related to projects I work on in my free time. These may include old subjects, such as how/why/when I got into computers and tech in general, to projects that I have recently completed or planning on.
To explain the reason behind the name TRaSH 80, the picture I included is of a TRS-80 Model 4 from RadioShack around 1982. This particular relic happens to be my family's second home computer and the one I enjoyed the most. This could be because my school also used this particular computer system.
The TRS-80 series of computers, starting with the original in 1977 received the nickname Trash80 due to some negative experiences people had with them. By the time I began working with the Model 4, I didn't see any negatives but only a glowing white on black screen of possibilities. When I was told about this "negative" nickname, I began calling the computer TRaShy. Unlike many, I call the computer this fondly, not to put down or complain about the system. I have many fond memories with this system.
When my family got their first PC clone, TRaShy essentially became mine. I remember spending hours upon hours poking away on it either writing/editing BASIC programs, working with DeskMate, calling up BBSes (Bulletin Board Systems/Services), and yes, even playing games.
So in memory of my dear old friend TRaShy, I have dedicated my home in cyberspace in its memory.
